Our purpose is to articulate the public interest potential of the decentralized Web to more equitably enhance commerce, communications and democracy. Through interjecting DWeb issues into policy forums, podcasts, panels, etc. and building a strong community of messengers, the Decentralized Future Council (DFC) aims to raise awareness of the social benefits of decentralized technologies. If the past is prologue, the Internet is moving into a fundamentally new, more decentralized architecture. Technologists refer to this new version of the Internet as Web3, or the decentralized Web. This transition is part of the cyclical wave of Internet innovation. The Internet is inherently about decentralization. Engineers and technologists are now creating the new protocols and applications that will radically transform Web 2.0, or the Internet as we now experience it.
